When we learn, we expand our minds, our horizons, and our ability to connect with the world. The more we learn, the better we become as people and as members of society.
We started Pyxium to help people learn more.
A bit of backstory
As a team, we’ve consistently found it hard to fully engage with online courses. We don’t complete courses we intend to finish. Sound familiar?
When we learn online, we pay for access to a course, or a subscription for access to multiple courses. The value of learning is defined by providing and having access to content, not by actually engaging with the content and learning new things.
This makes it feel like there is little recognition for the learning we are doing, and that spending time engaging with learning online is not seen as very valuable.
We think this is wrong. We believe in the inherent value of learning. We believe the real value of learning comes from going through the process of learning itself.
So we started Pyxium to recognise and celebrate this. Pyxium’s mission is to value learning, and to empower us all to learn more.
So what are we doing?
We’re creating a value system around the learning process itself.
By focusing on what is achieved by people through learning, we want to redefine what it means to learn.
With the correct value system in place, we can more clearly see the inherent value in learning. And when we see the inherent value in learning, we are able to learn more.
But what actually is Pyxium?
Pyxium is a marketplace powered by pyxies (pronounced ‘pik-see’, like the mythical fairy).
What are pyxies?
Pyxies are units of a virtual currency, a token that can be used to buy goods and services in the Pyxium marketplace.
There is only one way that pyxies can be created – through learning.
When you complete parts of a course on the Pyxium platform, you answer questions on the content you have learned. When you get the questions right, you earn pyxies.
Once you earn pyxies, you can spend them in the Pyxium marketplace.
No money, no catches. Just learning.
